The WHO Surgical and Anaesthesia Care guidelines emphasize the importance of improving access to surgical care since surgery is a successful treatment for many conditions such as cancer, injuries, or obstetric complications.
However, there are five billion people in the world who do not have access to safe, timely, and affordable surgical care and anaesthesia. In developing countries, 90 percent of people lack access to even the most basic surgical services. By making surgery universally accessible, we could save many lives, decrease the incidence of disability and promote economic growth.

My Doctor has created a digital community that allows people with the most basic technology to communicate directly—and safely—with our surgical and general departments.
